The Ridge Meadows Outdoor Club, established in the Maple Ridge / Pitt Meadows area of British Columbia holds day hikes and other activities as well as weekend and longer activities for every level of outdoor enthusiast. We promote respect for the environment and offer opportunities for individuals and families to experience the great outdoors.

At our club meetings we have slide shows, guest speakers, offer skills training, and plan activities. These meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month (except December, June, July and August) in the Fraser Room of the Maple Ridge Library. Guests are welcome.

The Ridge Meadows Outdoor Club is a volunteer-driven club which depends on its members' contributions of time and leadership to keep it viable.

Club History

The Ridge Meadows Outdoor Club was formed in April 1994 when John Hume approached Maple Ridge Parks and Recreation about forming a hiking club. With the support of the local newspapers he put an article in the local paper and called a meeting of people interested in forming an outdoor club. Over 200 people showed up and the club was formed. Initially the club was established and ran under the leadership of John Hume, Fran Siebert and Paul Crosby.

The club has operated continually since that date and continues to be very active with well over 100 members.
